My Story
Hi, I’m Elana Shalem, and I wear many hats—physical therapist, EMT, wife, and proud mom of two amazing girls.
My path into healthcare wasn’t a straight line; it’s been a journey shaped by service, resilience, and a deep desire to help others heal. It all began when I started volunteering as an EMT at just 16 years old, sparking a lifelong commitment to caring for others. From there, I went on to serve as a combat medic in the Israel Defense Forces, where I learned the importance of calm under pressure and the power of compassionate care. I carried those lessons forward into the world of emergency medicine and physical therapy, working with patients in hospitals, homes, and private practice.
Along the way, I earned my Doctorate in Physical Therapy and found a passion for pelvic health—helping women and men navigate challenges that are often overlooked but deeply affect quality of life. Whether in acute care, home health, or one-on-one sessions, my goal has always been to combine evidence-based practice with empathy, creating a safe space where patients feel heard and supported.
At the heart of it all, I’m not just a clinician—I’m also a mom who understands how much our bodies go through, especially during pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. My own experiences have fueled my commitment to helping others regain strength, confidence, and joy in their daily lives.
When I’m not with patients, you can usually find me chasing after my girls, spending time outdoors with my family, or giving back through teaching CPR and community service.
For me, healing is about more than recovery—it’s about empowering people to reconnect with their bodies and feel at home in them again.
